The Educare Trust is a non-profit agency registered under the Indian Trust Act, 1882.  It was formed in 2002 by Professor James Tooley of the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, and other members associated with private unaided schools in India.

The Educare Trust carries out research as well as assists private schools in low-income areas to improve their educational standards and facilities. This it achieves by offering several service to private unaided schools. These services include the running of a loan scheme for schools to improve their infrastructure and facilities, a scholarship scheme to help the poorest children to attend private schools, and the implementation of an English literacy programme – Jolly Phonics, training teachers and providing curriculum materials.

The Trust is advised by an International team from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, England and is based in the city of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.
